a Day at the Races

Noel invited me to go to the races in Monpazier  Sunday 2 aout and accompanied by Michael, I went along.  We arrived in time for a pleasant lunch at the Bistro 2 and made it to the track in good time for the first race at 3 PM.

There was, of course, a refreshment stand, a lunch area, pony rides for the kids, and a bouncy castle in the shape of a horse, naturally.

Some were dressed for the occasion ....

The track was officially 'grass' but given the drought we've had, it was mostly dust.

The horses are bred and trained as trotters but this doesn't appear to be natural and several were disqualified each race for galloping.

Even with a rider they were meant to trot.

Altogether an enjoyable day out and I doubt it would have been more fun had I placed bets.
