Both Saturday and Sunday were some of the hottest days so far this year with highs of 35C in the shade, if you could find any. Here in the crepes cooking tent with gas burners going it must have reached 40 degrees or more. Normally there are 14 crepiers working but there were fewer this year.
Even the donkeys were feeling the heat and some were quite reluctant to run. the crowds' applause didn't do much to encourage them.

Claire was lucky to have drawn a runner and won the race.

For the evening race at 23:30 the jockeys were dressed as hippies and carried placards saying "Fete des crepes, pas de la guerre!" ...Make crepes, not war!

Some donkeys never did finish the race.
The bathing beauty, in the red one-piece, eventually lost her bosoms because of having to pull her donkey around the course.
