Winning photo

This image won first prize in the category 'Graphic' at the Helderberg Photographic Society meeting in January 2014.  I was quite surprised and am still not certain why the judges picked it but won't argue.

The Great Wall of China Elephants!

Addo Elephant National Park ...no lions, no tigers, no bears,but lots of elephants.

We were driving along our first day in the park and hadn't seen anything much at all.  We turned a corner and there they were, a whole family, five adults and two young ones, marching down the road straight at us.  We'd recently seen a You Tube video of an elephant trashing somebody's car so were a tad apprehensive, but they all went right past without paying the slightest attention to us.  We could have reached out and touched them.
