Back in Carlux and here's the latest addition to the upper garden, a rusty-looking wrought iron pergola over which I hope to grow roses and clematis. At the top of the list of possible roses is one called 'Golden Showers' - 'nuff said.
A view of the lower garden from the terrace.
Ceanothus thyrsiflorus repens - known as California lilac - does well on the new bank. These were planted two years ago and have spread .

The poppies come free.

Picture yellow roses and blue clematis on the pergola.
